COVID-19, and the mandatory closure of businesses, has presented unique challenges to Central Kentucky companies and organizations and had a profound impact on their employees. In particular, the outbreak of COVID-19 has been extremely challenging for the restaurant and hospitality industry. However, in an effort to serve this community during this difficult time, FoodChain and Nourish Lexington have stepped up to provide delicious, hot meals to those in the hospitality industry who are currently out of work as well as others who are currently experiencing food insecurity.

Nourish Lexington Steps Up

Nourish Lexington is an initiative to utilize the skills and talents of hospitality workers recently unemployed due to the COVID-19 closings to provide prepared meals to those who need immediate access to food. These meals are distributed to hospitality industry families, seniors in affordable housing apartment complexes, children, and their families throughout family resource coordinator, and other families in need. Nourish Lexington is powered by FoodChain, with support from the Murry Family Foundation, Keeneland, and VisitLEX, along with other generous donors. “Their dedication to providing meals to those who do not have immediate access to food, particularly during such an unprecedented time, is an incredible display of the heart and resiliency that Lexington, KY has. We are happy to help such an amazing initiative in our community”, said Bryan Dowell, Director at Studio46 Media.
